3D Laser Scanners by Micro-Epsilon
scanCONTROL 8x00
High-performance laser profile scanners — more precise, more compact, more intelligent.
Green Laser Technology
A 520 nm green laser sits near the sensor's peak quantum efficiency, giving stable, low-noise signals even on shiny metal, PCBs, and organic surfaces — with shorter exposure times than red or blue laser scanners.
4K Sensor Matrix
Up to 4,224 points per profile and a point cloud resolution of 8,448 × 4,224 px. Extended dynamic range holds detail on strongly varying surfaces and under changing lighting.
SMART 3D In-Sensor
Complete 3D evaluation runs inside the sensor head — no external control module. Results go straight to your PLC over Industrial Ethernet, or export calibrated point clouds for your own software.

Applications
Real-time 3D scans that hold up during fast movement — where image processing alone falls short.
Adhesive bead inspection
Mounted fixed or on the robot, the scanner measures the height, width, and position of the bead as it's laid down — immediate quality control in automotive, packaging, and electronics.
Battery cell geometry
Captures cell geometry in high resolution and verifies alignment and installation height of every cylindrical cell, catching the tilt and height errors that cause short circuits or poor contact.
Weld seam inspection
Monitors the seam in real time and feeds the cross-sectional profile back to the process controller, so welds can be corrected in-process or flagged early.
PCB presence & flatness
High z-resolution resolves the smallest height differences — presence, height profile, and coplanarity on very small structures, with results sent straight to the PLC.
Connector pin inspection
Scans the whole pin row and checks number, position, and flatness — bent, missing, or misaligned pins are caught without interrupting material flow.
Stent mesh inspection
Inline, high-resolution inspection of the mesh structure detects defects, geometric deviations, and surface irregularities before parts reach downstream processes.
3DInspect Software
Included with every scanner.
Build the measurement, then let the scanner run it
Configure measuring programs for gap, angle, or height in 3DInspect, save them directly to the sensor, and the scanner runs standalone against your control system — no PC in the loop.
- More than 80 measuring programs, 2D and 3D
- Combine programs for complex measurement tasks
- Valid3D — real 3D point clouds, not 2.5D analysis
- Alignment and filtering of the point cloud
- Transfer programs to the scanner for SMART operation
- Or export calibrated profiles / point clouds to your own software
